FAITH GOES BEYOND WHAT WE BELIEVE

Image
📓2 Peter 1:5-6 _5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; (KJV)_ Real Faith in Christ is evident in godly character. A decision can only be termed firm when it results in action. Faith can only be real when it becomes active in all we do, resulting in good fruit and spiritual maturity. If faith in Christ does not result in good deeds, then it is a dead one. Therefore, we must act on our faith in Christ by living a good life. However, the actions of faith do not come automatically, they require hard work. Therefore, we are to work hard with fear and trembling to show the results of your salvation which has its basics in faith in Christ (Philippians 2:12). A must know, Salvation in Christ depends not on good deeds, but results in good deeds. If any man be in Christ he is a new creation, old things are passed away, behold, all things become new

JESUS, THE WISDOM OF GOD

Image
📓Proverbs 2:6 _For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. (NIV)_ God is the source of wisdom. He grants it only to those who earnestly seek Christ Jesus. This is because God has hidden true wisdom in Jesus Christ. According to John chapter one, Jesus is the "Word of God". And from our opening verse, it is very clear that wisdom comes from the mouth of God, thus, His Word which happens to be Jesus Christ. Therefore anyone who has no Jesus lacks true wisdom. Actually, anyone who is searching for true wisdom must come to Jesus. God has hidden true wisdom from the rebellious and those who think of themselves wise and clever (Luke 10:21). But those who humble themselves and acknowledge the need for Jesus in their lives find true wisdom, for Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). The footpath to wisdom is the Word of God (Jesus Christ). Therefore, when we become obedient to God's Word, we discover and gro

DRINK FROM JESUS

Image
📓Revelation 22:17 _And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (KJV)_ Our Lord Jesus Christ is the fountain of living water. Anyone who forsakes Him will die of thirst (Jeremiah 17:13). He offers therefore living water that could quench our spiritual thirst. If only we could acknowledge who He is and the gift He has for us, we would ask Him, and He would give us living water. Besides, we will have eternal life and will never thirst again when we drink from Him. (John 4:10-11). Apparantly, the "living water" refers to the Holy Spirit, indicating eternal life (salvation). So as we drink from Jesus, the living water, we receive the Holy Spirit which bring to us eternal life. From out text, Christ Jesus invites us all to come and drink freely from the water of life. He wants no payment and also seeks no recommendation from our virtuous emotions. Al

DON'T BE DESPERATE; GOD CARES

Image
📓Philippians 4:19 _But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV)_ God is always concerned about our needs. He cares for us. It is said in 1 Peter 5:7 that "give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you" (NLT). We can, therefore, trust that God will always meet our needs. However, we must learn to be content in any circumstances we face, thus, knowing how to be satisfied whether we have plenty or whether we are in need. To be satisfied in every circumstance, we must rely on Christ's power for strength. Though we all have great needs and sometimes become dissatisfied because we don't have what we want. We must remember, however, that there are difference between our wants and our needs. We may not get all that we want but we can get all that we need. Beloved brethren, if you always want more, rely on God's power, ask Him to remove that desire and teach you to be content (satisfied) in all circ

FORGIVENESS HEALS

Image
📓Colossians 3:13 _Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. (KJV)_ An important medicine that helps cure problems in relationships with friends and other people is forgiveness. Our relationship with God stands firm because He always forgives us our confessed sins. Likewise, to build a good and a strong relationship we need a heart that forgives. We are to make allowances for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends us. To us, forgiving others is a difficult task and that many people would rather do anything unpleasant than to offer forgiveness to those who wrong and hurt them. To develop a heart that forgives, we must always remember how much God has forgiven us. Is it difficult for you to forgive those who have wronged you a little when God has forgiven you so much? Realize how much God forgives you. Brethren, realizing God's mercy and forgiveness will help you forg

GOODNESS IN CHRIST JESUS

Image
📓Galatians 5:22 _But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (KJV)_ Many people think it is only Christians who do good, but such thought is wrong. Apart from Christians, there are other people who do good to others. There are people who are not Christians but are kind to their neighbors. Yet, the good they do to others do not make them Christians because they have no Christ. This means goodness without Christ is goodless. Goodness is therefore the moral qualities which constitute Christian perfection. From our opening verse, goodness is seen as a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Actually, when a person receives Christ, he receives His Spirit (Holy Spirit) which helps him to bear the fruit of goodness. Therefore Christians are bonded to do good. So far as we have the Holy Spirit, we carry goodness wherever we go. It's in our DNA. That's why David professed, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life

FEED YOUR MIND RIGHTLY

Image
📓Proverbs 15:14  The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness. (KJV) The words we speak and our actions are all influenced by what we put into our mind. The mind is fed by the working of the five senses, thus, what we see, hear, feel, smell and taste. In all, what we see and hear feed the mind the most. The kinds of people we talk with, the books and magazines we read, the music we listen to, and the videos we watch are all part of our MENTAL DIET. It is written, "...whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting" - Galatians 6:7-8. Obviously, what a man sows in the mind will determine the outcome. In other words, the destination of a man starts from within the mind. You must therefore examine what you are feeding the mind with through books, internet, televisio

THE KNOCK OF OPPORTUNITY

📓2 Peter 3:9 _The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (KJV)_ Mostly, we stir up opposing the Word of God instead of accepting it. In other words, when we hear the message of repentance or any message that ask us to change our evil ways, we often turn away and refuse to listen. When we do that we risk our own lives because that may be the only opportunity. Besides, opportunity may come at once, that's why we must take advantage of every opportunity God gives to us. God is merciful. His love for us is constant, patient and affable. He always knocks at the door of our heart because He wants to save and have communion with us (Revelation 3:20). He gives us opportunities to respond to His knocks. However, He doesn't force us to open our heart to Him. He allows us to decide whether or not to open our heart to Him. Apparently, most of us

WHO IS GOD?

A friend from Zimbabwe asked me these two questions; Who is God? How can He be known?. And I thought I should share what I told him...... *WHO IS GOD?* God is the creator, the maker, and the originator of the universe (world). He is the reason of our being. He owns everything including man (Genesis 1, 2:7). He is the answer to the mysteries, problems and questions circulating in the world. He made man for fellowship but man turned his back on Him. (Genesis 3). However, His mercies and love made Him to reach out to save man from sin. He therefore revealed Himself in the form of man, called JESUS, paid the penalty of our sin by dying on the cross and raising from death. (John 1:1-14, 3:16, Romans 5:8). Anyone who believes in Him shall be saved (Romans 10:9-10) *HOW CAN GOD BE KNOWN?* There is the difference between knowing God and knowing about God. The fact that you know something about someone does not make that person your friend. Until you get to know each other and enjoy spend

REFUSE TO BE LAZY

📓Proverbs 10:4 _He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. (KJV)_ After Adam was created by God, he was placed in the Garden of Eden to dress it (work on it) and to keep it (Genesis 2:15). Obviously, Adam was not to sit idle or walk to and fro doing nothing; he was to work on the garden so that it will be productive for Him always. Therefore, wherever we find ourselves we are to work in order to be productive. Every blessed day provides hours of twenty-four filled with opportunities to serve, grow, and be productive. As we live and wait for the Lord, we are to do our own business, work with our hands, and plan for the future (1 Thessalonians 4:11). It is written "...that if any would not work, neither should he eat" - 2 Thessalonians 3:10. Beloved, time is so easy to be wasted, therefore, refuse to be a lazy person, and work the most of your talent and time, doing your possible best to provide for yourself and your depen

LABOR IN THE LORD ISN'T IN VAIN

📓1 Corinthians 15:58 _Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (KJV)_ Christianity is a self-denial journey. To further explain, as Christians, we take actions that sacrifice our own benefits for the good of eternity. Jesus said, "...If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me" - Matthew 16:24. Obviously, Christians deny the world and its desires and do the will of God through Jesus Christ. Anyone who cannot give up his or her pleasure for the sake of Christ is not worthy to be a Christian. Jesus again said, "Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me" - Matthew 10:38 (niv). Apparently, following Christ requires a total sacrifice. However, whatever we give up or sacrifice for the sake of Christ is not in vain. From our opening verse, God through Apostle Paul says

IN TIMES OF PLENTY

Image
📓Deuteronomy 6:12 _be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the Land of slavery. (NIV)_ Most often, it is difficult to follow God when life is easy and full of comfort. A person who has plenty or who is wealthy often feels secure, invulnerable, in control, and undependable; feeling no need for God. That is to say, there is the vulnerability to become self-sufficient in times of plenty. Besides, in times of prosperity, we are tempted to be proud and take God for granted. That is why Jesus warned and said, "...how hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!..." (Mark 10:23-25). Therefore, there is the need for us to be careful in times of plenty. One day, Moses said to the Israelites, "The Lord your God will soon bring you into the land He swore to give you when He made a vow to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is a land with large, prosperous cities that you did not build". He then warned them not

A TIME WITH GOD

Image
📓Psalm 119:164 _Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments. (KJV)_ Every blessed day provides twenty-four hours for effective living. Our daily schedules must therefore dance with the seconds, minutes, and hours of the twenty-four hours. Now, how many seconds, minutes or hours do we give to God out of the twenty-four hour each day provides? Actually, the busy routine of daily living has diverted many people's attention from having time with God. Without a doubt, work, family responsibilities, movies and television programs, social media, and other recreations normally crowd our schedules so tightly that we don't take time to read the bible and pray to God. Even our total worship to God is being distracted. Beloved, how many times do seek God's presence? How many minutes or hours do you spend with God everyday? It's easy to get caught up in your daily activities, becoming too busy for God. Before you start everyday or make a schedule,

THE UNCHANGEABLE DEPENDABLE GOD

Image
📓Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (KJV)_ David said, "the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork" - Psalm 19:1. Despite all the evidences the nature (creation) reveal about God and His supremacy, many people still have shallow knowledge about God and even some don't believe in Him at all. They therefore limit the power of the Lord in situations. They face difficulties and think they are too big for the Lord to handle. However, our thoughts are not the thoughts of the Lord, neither are our ways His ways (Isaiah 55:8). The Lord is greater and bigger than everything and we are to know that. "Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and  we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture" - Psalm 100:3. Beloved, the Lord Jesus never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Though we live in a changing world, you can hope and trust the Lor

"I WANT TO SEE"

Image
📓Mark 10:51 _"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked. "My rabbi" the blind man said, "I want to see!" (NLT)_ The Lord Jesus is a healer, deliverer, and savior. He is all powerful. He is the answer to all questions and the solution to all problems. He can deliver us from troubles, heal us from diseases, and can provide us with what we want. Actually, He is our safety. It's written, "The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe" - Proverbs 18:10 (kjv). Therefore, we must seek Him, call Him, run to Him, and ask for His help. Bartimaeus was a blind beggar. He was sitting beside the road begging when he heard that Jesus, the savior, healer, deliverer, was passing by. So he began shouting, "Jesus! Son of David! Have mercy on me". Many people tried to bequiet him but he even shouted louder till Jesus heard and called for him. That was how he received his sight (Mark 10:46-52). Apparen

GUARD AGAINST ALL KINDS OF GREED

📓Luke 12:15 _Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kind of  greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions". (NIV)_ A selfish and excessive desire for more than is needed or deserved, especially of money, wealth, food, or other possessions is termed as greed. Greed is very dangerous to the life of every man. It destroys our relationship with God, blinds us to God's guidance and counsel, and dives us into ruin and destruction. "Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it rob them of life" - Proverbs 1:19 (nlt). Besides, "Greed brings grief to the whole family..." - Proverbs 15:27 (nlt). From our preceding verse, Christ Jesus says that life is not measured by how much a person has or own. He therefore warns us against every kind of greed. Nevertheless, some people are always greedy for more; "Like greedy dogs, they are never satisfied. They are ignorant shepherds, all following their own path and

THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED

Image
📓Matthew 26:54 _But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? (KJV)_ Truth be told, the Word of God is meant to prepare man to be perfect and equip him to do every good work. It's written, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works" - 2 Timothy 3:16-17. What ever God has said in His Word, be it laws or commandments, stories or histories, or promises, His ultimate purpose is that they will transform man's life from bad to good and from fallible to perfection. Moreover, God desires that His Word will be made real in the life every man. He wants His Word to be fulfilled in our lives. But today, many people read the scripture and miss the whole mind of God [God's purpose] because they just read it for reading's sake. Instead of them allowing what they read to

HATRED IS POISONOUS

Image
📓1 John 2:9 _He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. (KJV)_ Hatred is to intensively dislike something or someone. It's an affection of the heart awakened by something or someone regarded as evil or harmful. The heart is the land of every man where behavioral seeds are planted. The heart therefore, plants what it receives. Obviously, what we allow to enter our hearts is very important because it grows to affect our entire selves. Our hearts play an important role in our Christian life, therefore, we have to guard and control our hearts. Hatred is caused by an uncontrolled anger linking bitterness which is developed in the heart. Hatred with it companions (anger and bitterness) turn to be a terrible sin because they violate God's command to love. They grow in the heart and corrupt one's life. Hatred and its resulting bitterness are very poisonous and dangerous feelings that portend to jump out of control, causing damag

BE ALWAYS READY TO LEARN FROM JESUS

Image
📓Luke 10:39 _And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. (KJV)_ Nowadays, many people profess to love Christ Jesus but they hardly pay attention to His Word. They are always busy for their work and other things to the extent that even talking to Jesus (prayer) and learning from Him (study) become problematic. Yet, to be an effective Christian, one must have the eagerness to learn from Christ Jesus. And to learn from Jesus means, to come to know who He is (the only way to God); to become informed of His justice (Judgement); and to find out what He has to offer us which is eternal life with God (salvation). Actually, to know all these about Jesus, we must sit at His feet and learn from what He teaches. To consider all the aspects of the story of our opening verse, the two sisters, Martha and Mary loved Jesus. And both of them were serving Him, yet, Jesus acknowledged Mary's kind of serving. Jesus said to Martha, "There is only

THE FIRST STEP OF FAITH

Image
📓1 Kings 17:13 _And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. (KJV)_ Faith is believing in the seemingly impossible. It is a mentality that expect God to act despite doubts and questions. It is written, "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happened; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see" - Hebrews 11:1 (nlt). Faith is completed by an action; it is incomplete when not in action. "What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don't show it by your actions?..." (James 2:14, nlt). Apparently, faith is an action. And every action requires a first step which demonstrates the readiness of the actor. A widow was gathering sticks to cook her last meal, eat with her son, and their next hope was death because there had been years of great famine and that was their last meal. In the

WORD OF HOPE

Image
📓2 Corinthians 4:8-9 _We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; (KJV)_ Life is full of uncertainties. People can never predict when good time or bad time might come. It is all decided by God. He alone knows and controls everything. How then can a man conclude his own life or someone's own as useless and hopeless? We are all blind of the future; when we look into the future, all we see is darkness. But there is a light which help us catch to a glimpse of the future. This light clears dark (evil) thoughts and negative impression of oneself, and gives understandings of life to the simple when depended on. This light is the Word of God. And it is in the Word of God that the antidote of this life's uncertainties is found - HOPE. Today, we see many people living without hope. Some live a reckless life by giving themselves to alcohol. Others go further into committing sui

BE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

Image
📓Romans 8:14 _For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (KJV)_ As believers in Christ Jesus, we have two forces at work within us; the force of darkness and the force of light. The darkness signifies the flesh (the sinful nature) and the light signifies God's Spirit (the Holy Spirit). Anyone who is not a believer in Christ is controlled only by his or her sinful nature (darkness). But at the moment one becomes a believer, he or she receives the Holy Spirit (the Light of God). However, light and darkness do not meet; they disagree, they therefore fight each other. Obviously, as Christians, there is great tension in our daily experiences. We are engaged in a spiritual battle in which we earnestly desire that we may obtain full victory over us sinful nature. However, we must not underrate the power of sin and try to overcome it by our own strength. Instead, we must uphold God's provision over sin, that is the Holy Spirit who lives within us an

ANYONE CAN BE YOUR STUMBLING BLOCK

Image
📓Proverbs  4:14 _Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. (KJV)_ Many Christians think that only unbelievers are the people who can make them fall. Jesus said "Woe unto the world because of offences (stumbling blocks)!..." - Matthew 18:7. This means anyone at all can cause us to stumble. Even, our fellow believers, not excluding church leaders, friends, and acquaintances can make us fall. They can be a dangerous trap to us. Sometimes, we never confront or criticize these people for wrong plans or actions. We normally can't see how the actions of the people we trust could lead to trouble. Though we can trust these people, but we must also be vigilant and careful so that they don't lure us to do wrong. If Jesus hadn't been careful, Peter who was a friend and a devoted follower of Him would have blocked Him from His mission. Now watch what Jesus said to Peter even though he was His friend; "Get away from me, Satan! You ar

PRACTICALIZE YOUR CHRISTIAN FAITH

Image
📓1 Peter 2:21 _For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: (KJV)_ Christianity is more practical than theological. Knowing about God; studying everything in the Bible doesn't make a Christian. Instead, what makes a Christian is living (practicing) what is studied and known about God through Christ Jesus. Although it is important to study or listen to God's Word, it is more important than one can take a stick at to obey and practice what it says. Therefore, professing to be Christians without godly effect on our behavior and attitude is futile. From our open verse, it obvious that we are called to live as Christ lived. Christ is our ultimate example. We are to walk in His footprints. So, not only by our mouth confessions, we are to practicalize our faith in Christ by giving ourselves to Him as living sacrifices which is holy and acceptable; allowing Him to transform our minds (Romans 12:1-

THE WORKING-FOR-GOOD PROMISE

Image
📓Romans 8:28 _And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (KJV)_ God's purpose is to offer salvation to the world. He works in everything for our good. This doesn't mean only good moments will come our way. Evil is rife in this fallen world, but God is able to turn every circumstance around for our good over a great distance if we continue in fellowship with Him. Actually, God isn't working to make us rich and happy here on earth as some people think but to fulfill His purpose. As soon as we accept His gracious invitation to Christ's family, He starts to work us to His divine purpose. Obviously, to them who are the called, thus, those who have come to believe in Christ Jesus enjoys God's working-for-good promise. Such people trust in God, seek God's Kingdom above all else and live righteously, and put their trust not in worldly treasures. They make the Lord their hope and

HOW TO DRESS

Image
📓1 Corinthians 10:31  _Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (KJV)_ As Christians, our every action must give glory to the Most High God. In other words, whatever we do, whether in word or deed, we must do it all as a representation of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him (Colossians 3:17). Now the question is, do our dressings give glory to God? How are Christians suppose to dress? Dressing normally speaks of ones ethnicity or cultural background, and mental status; whether sane or insane. Therefore Christians should dress accordingly. Today, dressing among Christians has become a debateful issue. However, it shouldn't be a topic for discussion while it is clearly written in the Scripture. Apostle Paul made it clear that Christians are to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves with good deeds and not necessarily dressing fancily to draw attention to themselves (1 Timothy 2:9-1

DECIDE AS JOSHUA DID

Image
📓Deuteronomy 30:15 _See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; (KJV)_ Life is full of decision making. Before we act, we first decide. Decision brings about action and the action drives us to our destination. Therefore, we must always make a right decision in order to get to a right destination. Notably, a decision can only be a firm one if it continues in action no matter the challenges it faces. To decide means to make up one's mind. To make up one's mind is to take a stand for a made choice. To make a firm right decision, we must not base on other's decision. Make a decision on your own. Not because a friend has made it. Not because all people are doing it. When it happens so, you may quit when those people do. The choice is yours, so take your time and make a firm right decision on your own. In taking a definite stand for the Lord of host, Joshua challenged the Israelites to make a decision on their own. Regardless of what others d

THE GREATEST GAIN

Image
📓Proverbs 8:19 _My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. (KJV)_ Today, many people see the Word of God (laws and commandments) as a heavy burden. When they think of them, all they see is that the Word prevents them from enjoyment, amusement, pleasures or fun having. But the Word of God rather removes our heavy burdens which is our sins and gives eternal rest to our souls. Jesus said, "come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30, niv). Actually, God's Word is not meant to burden, restrain or suppress us but is meant to offer us what this world cannot offer us; thus to give us life and to have it in abundance. David realized this and said, "The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees

AN ANGELIC PROTECTION

Image
📓Exodus 23:20 _Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. (KJV)_ Angels are messengers and servants of the Most High God. In other words, they are spirit beings created by God to serve as servants and ministers. One of the Psalmist revealed, "Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire" - Psalm 104:4. Obviously, angels are spirit beings. Some of their functions are; worshipping the Lord, proclaiming His messages, and protecting the children of God. As a matter of fact, God's protection of His people takes several forms and it is without limit. One of the forms is by ordering His angels to protect us. Therefore, as children of God, that's, we who believe in Christ Jesus as our Lord and savior receive a special protection from God's angels. From our opening verse, it is clear that God sent His angel to protect and lead the Israelites safely to the promised land. Howeve
