IN TIMES OF PLENTY

đź““Deuteronomy 6:12
_be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the Land of slavery. (NIV)_

Most often, it is difficult to follow God when life is easy and full of comfort. A person who has plenty or who is wealthy often feels secure, invulnerable, in control, and undependable; feeling no need for God. That is to say, there is the vulnerability to become self-sufficient in times of plenty. Besides, in times of prosperity, we are tempted to be proud and take God for granted. That is why Jesus warned and said, "...how hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!..." (Mark 10:23-25). Therefore, there is the need for us to be careful in times of plenty.

One day, Moses said to the Israelites, "The Lord your God will soon bring you into the land He swore to give you when He made a vow to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is a land with large, prosperous cities that you did not build". He then warned them not to forget the Lord who rescued them from the land of slavery in the land of Egypt when they get to the Promised Land and prosper. He continued by saying, "you must fear your God and serve Him..." (verse 10-13, nlt). Obviously, Moses was opening their eye to the vulnerabilities in times of plenty or prosperity.

Beloved, when you become successful in what you are desiring for in life, be it marriage, finance, school, job, etc., you can easily become less sensitive to your duty and worship to the Lord. Therefore, in times of achievement, prosperity or plenty, don't forget that God is the source. Again, be vigilant and be extra careful in those times because it is easy to get so busy managing what you have achieved that you push God aside. Not all, always give God the glory and stand firm for Him in all times.
