THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST

John 19:30 (NKJV)
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “IT IS FINISHED !” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

It is finished! It is finished!! It is finished!!! Take a moment and think of the above statement made by Christ Jesus. This is where our faith comes from. The finished work of Christ Jesus is the foundation of our faith as believers. Without this work, the world would have still been in the bondage of sin. In fact, it is the fulfillment of God's will for mankind.

Many believers have overlooked the finished work of Jesus even though they occasionally talk about it. They celebrate the finished work of Jesus Christ but they still try to finish what is finished by obeying the law. How can you try to finish what is already finished? It is senseless to do that. This is lack of knowledge. No wonder God said, “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).

What did Jesus mean when He said, “It is finished”? He actually meant He has finished the work His father (God) assigned Him to do. That is to say, the work we were to do as required by the law (animal sacrifices, burnt offerings, and other offerings for sin) has been done once for all by Christ Jesus. God has taken every burden from us through the finished work of Christ Jesus. Now, your acceptance by God doesn't base on your obedience to the law but it is base on your BELIEVE in the finished work of Christ Jesus. Therefore, you must believe in Jesus and walk freely in it. This is what we call GRACE. Christ Jesus did it for you free of charge.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Seemingly, you are saved not because you are good or you are found of obeying laws. But because Christ Jesus sacrificed His life for you to be accepted by God. God's love for you is shown through the finished work of Jesus, not your own work. Your own work can't please God. Your FAITH in what Jesus did is what pleases God because Jesus pleased God for you.

Your good deeds (works) don't affect your salvation in anyway. In fact, God doesn't need your good deeds. So stop trying to please God with your works. Your good deeds only glorify God's name in THE SIGHT OF MAN. Even in so doing, if you force yourself in doing good, you haven't totally rested in the finished work yet. Because good deeds become a nature when one rests in the finished work. So you are to manifest good deeds not because you want to please God, but because it's your nature . Actually, good deed is an end product of a renewed mind. It isn't a burden at all. When good deed becomes a burden to you,then you are being hypocrite and that you need a renewed mind. Therefore, daily renew your mind with the WORD, walk in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and good deeds will automatically manifest in you.

Besides, your past, present and future sins were forgiven by God when Jesus said, “It is finished”, that's 2,000 years ago. God is not now forgiving sins, He has already forgiven all humanity long ago including the yet-to-be-born through the finished work of Jesus. You are not forgiven because you confess your sins to God daily. God has already forgiven you. It is done. It is finished by Jesus. Accept it and walk freely in it.

This is what the GOOD NEWS of Christ Jesus is all about. He finished it for you on the cross. Don't belittle the finished work of Jesus by entrusting your own corpulent work to qualify you. Believe in Jesus's finished work and inherent what He did on the cross for you.

Acts 13:38-39 (NKJV)
38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man [JESUS] is preached to you the forgiveness of sins;
39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Stay inspired and blessed!
