THE GREATEST GAIN

đź““Proverbs 8:19
_My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. (KJV)_

Today, many people see the Word of God (laws and commandments) as a heavy burden. When they think of them, all they see is that the Word prevents them from enjoyment, amusement, pleasures or fun having. But the Word of God rather removes our heavy burdens which is our sins and gives eternal rest to our souls. Jesus said, "come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30, niv).

Actually, God's Word is not meant to burden, restrain or suppress us but is meant to offer us what this world cannot offer us; thus to give us life and to have it in abundance. David realized this and said, "The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear giving insight for living. Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true, each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them" - Psalm 19:7-11 (nlt).

Beloved, how do you see and value the Word of God? Has it become a heavy burden to you? Always know that whatever God has said in His Words is meant to guide, direct, and drive us to a successful end. They are meant to set us free from the slavery of sin and to offer us salvation. That is why we are to make Godliness our contentment. It is a great gain and wealthy to be godly. Therefore, if you heed unto the Word of God, though sorrowful, yet you will always rejoice; poor, yet you will make many riches in heaven; having nothing, and yet you will possess everything in the Kingdom of Heaven (2 Corinthians 6:10). Solomon said, "when people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful" - Proverbs 29:18 (nlt).
