WHO IS GOD?

A friend from Zimbabwe asked me these two questions; Who is God? How can He be known?. And I thought I should share what I told him......

*WHO IS GOD?*
God is the creator, the maker, and the originator of the universe (world). He is the reason of our being. He owns everything including man (Genesis 1, 2:7). He is the answer to the mysteries, problems and questions circulating in the world. He made man for fellowship but man turned his back on Him. (Genesis 3). However, His mercies and love made Him to reach out to save man from sin. He therefore revealed Himself in the form of man, called JESUS, paid the penalty of our sin by dying on the cross and raising from death. (John 1:1-14, 3:16, Romans 5:8). Anyone who believes in Him shall be saved (Romans 10:9-10)

*HOW CAN GOD BE KNOWN?*
There is the difference between knowing God and knowing about God. The fact that you know something about someone does not make that person your friend. Until you get to know each other and enjoy spending time together, you won't know him and can't be his friend. Therefore, if we want to get to know someone, we have to spend time with that person. Besides, the more we spend time with someone, the better we know that person.

Likewise, you can know about God by reading the Bible. Yet, knowing God goes beyond just knowing something about Him. It means having a personal relationship with Him; experiencing and enjoying His presence as you personally spend time with Him. There are people who know a lot about God because they have studied the Bible, but do not know God. Studying the Bible does not make you a child of God, it rather makes you a Bible scholar. Obeying (practicing, following) what is studied is what makes you a child of God.

Therefore, to know God, you must accept who He is, spend time with Him daily through prayers, and studying and meditating on His Word (Bible). And not all, obeying what He tells you in His Word. (Joshua 1:7-9, Psalm1:1-6)

*May the Holy Spirit give you deeper understanding.*
*God bless you*
