THE BELIEVER AND ALCOHOL

Is taking in alcohol a sin as a believer in Christ? In the first place, alcohol intake has nothing to do with whether or not you are a believer. Eating and drinking come along with a choice. You choose what to eat and drink. And what you consume, as in food and drink, doesn't defile you. Let's read what our Lord Jesus said about consumption. 👇

Mark 7:15 (NKJV)
There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.

So what you consume doesn't defile you. But many religious folks go about condemning people who do so in the name of wining souls for Christ. Instead of them preaching and teaching the truth for you to receive freedom, they flame their own dogma from the Bible to brainwash you and put in you fear.

Mind you, I'm not writing this post to encourage alcohol consumption but to reveal the truth that has been twisted by religious folks about alcohol. The percentage of alcohol in some of the foods you consume everyday is more than that of some alcoholic beverages. But you might say you don't take in alcohol just because you don't drink its beverages. You see?

Alcohol consumption is not a sin so don't let anyone condemn you on that. But as a believer in Christ, don't be controlled by the flesh. Don't let your appetite dictate for you. Let the fruit of the Spirit (self control) in you be revived. Let's continue by reading something thoughtful Paul said.👇

Romans 14:21 (NKJV)
It is good neither to eat meat nor DRINK WINE nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.

You must sometimes control your desire for alcohol if you are a fan of it not because it a sin to do so but because you don't want to offend a weak brother near you. This is why as a believer self control is a necessity. If you lack self control, you can't live a glorious life. If you drink alcohol and you can't control its consumption, you have a problem. Because that could lead you to DRUNKENNESS which is the guzzle intake of it.

Drunkenness is a work of the flesh. Though it doesn't affect your salvation in anyway, it does defiles your well-being. Getting drunk can make you act foolish and stupid which can cost your beinghood in anyway.

I'm not a fan of alcohol. I don't drink it. And that's me. I can't force you to be me. It's a personal decision. So I don't preach or teach against the intake of alcohol because it's wrong for one to do so. The Kingdom of God is not about what you eat or drink. It's about demonstrating sonship through the Holy Spirit.

This is my personal wish but to you it's a choice. I wish you will desist from taking strong wine (alcoholic beverages) because to me the best way to prevent drunkenness is not to drink at all.

"All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." - 1 Corinthians 6:12 (NKJV)
