BEFORE CRITICIZING

Image
📓Luke 6:41 _And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? (KJV)_ Many of us know the Word of God so well that we have learnt how to excuse our own actions while criticizing other people's actions. However, the Word of God goes beyond how most of us view it. "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,...." - Hebrews 4:12. Clearly, it is dynamic, living, and life-changing as it works in us. Also, it's a guideline for living according to God's will. Knowing this, we must look at ourselves and see if sin, in any form, exists within us before we criticize or accuse others. Sometimes, we become so insensitive to our own sins that we don't realize that we are the villain of the criticism we offer. Therefore, before criticizing others, we need to take enough time to discover our own motives.

DON'T SETTLE INTO DOUBTS

Image
📓Romans 14:23 _And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. (KJV)_ We all, sometimes, experience doubt in life. However, some people are sceptical that they need to doubt before they believe. Thomas in the Bible is a good example of such people. When he was told about Jesus's resurrection, he doubted and said, "....except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe....." - John 20:24-29. Although Thomas doubted, but he didn't stay in his doubt but he allowed Jesus to bring him to belief. Obviously, we can doubt without living a doubting way of life. Doubt can do us good and can also harm us. Doubt does good if it leads to finding answers to questions, and accepts the found answers. But when it obstinates and produces a haughty lifestyle, it harms faith. Sometimes, Satan may tempt us to dou

RECOGNIZE JESUS

Image
📓Luke 24:15 _And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. (KJV)_ When Jesus Christ resurrected, the news spread throughout Jerusalem. In fact it caused a great stir in Jerusalem. There was chaos everywhere. Many people were surprised and others were doubtfully searching for evidence and proofs. Besides, those who carried out Jesus' execution were also plotting how to cover up the spread of the news (Matthew 28:11-15). Obviously, it was indeed a top news. The same day, two followers of Christ were walking and talking about the news as they journeyed to Emmaus, a village near Jerusalem. As they talked, Jesus Christ joined, walked, and talk with them but they failed to recognize Him (Luke 24:13-18). Perhaps their concerns were much on the burning issue of the day. That's, they were preoccupied with their disappointments and problems. Beloved, we are likely to miss Jesus when we focus too much on our p

NO ONE IS ABOVE ADVICE

Image
📓Exodus 18:24 _So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said. (KJV)_ There are some people who don't take advice neither from God's Word nor wise experienced people. Such people are wise in their on eyes, trust their own ideas to the exclusion of all other, and think themselves so clever. However, we should not think we know it all, but we should be willing to listen to and be corrected by God's Word and wise counsellors. From our text, Moses heeded and listened to his father-in-law's advice and followed his suggestions. Though Moses was wise, he needed Jethro's advice other than that he would have been spending more of his time and energy settling disputes that could be use for other important task (verse 13-23). Apparently, God holds all wisdom and He deposits it in many heads and not one. Therefore wisdom is not in one head and for that matter no man is above advice or counsel. Beloved, do not depend on your own und

STOP CHASING THE WIND!

Image
📓Ecclesiastes 6:9 _Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don't have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless - like chasing the wind. (NLT)_ It is very awful to see some people with all their might running at a tough speed, desiring to get to the finish line without realizing that life is about grace and not race. Life is not about finishing first, but it is about finishing faithfully. Besides, it is not about been at the top position, but it is about been at the true position. It is obvious that many of us have the wrong perspective of life and are therefore chasing the wind unknowingly. The wind can be felt as it passes, but we cannot get hold of it neither can we stop it from blowing. Trying to do that is nonsense and madness. All the treasures of life are like the wind. We can feel and enjoy them but we can't catch hold of them without loosing them neither can we stop them from blowing for others.  Also, as we adjust ourselves in order that the w

SINGLES, MARRIAGE DOES NOT GUARANTEE SATISFACTION

Image
Written by Ps. Philip Amponsah If you are a young man or a young lady planning to get married, there is this bitter truth you need to know. Marriage does not guarantee satisfaction. It does not provide you with everything. In other words, marriage does not solve every problem. If marriage was to be a guarantor of satisfaction, Solomon, a man who had 700 wives and 300 concubines wouldn't have said, "...No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content" - Ecclesiastes 1:8 (nlt). Actually, no pleasure, happiness, or satisfaction is possible without God. Nothing in this dying world can fill the vacancy and satisfy the deep longings in our antsy hearts. Only God can do that. Many singles out there lack this truth and have targeted marriage as a place of refuge and a hideout to life's problems.  Many are therefore, desperately speeding into marriage thinking it is where to find happiness and a complete life.
